Dear Judge Kantor,

I appeal to your sense of decency and ask for leniency, for many reasons, when you sentence Audrey Beth Cannon.

As a member of her family we need time to plan the best course to tackle this injustice.

As Audrey's mother I am very familiar with many aspects of my daughter's life. We spend many hours together and tell each other what is going on in our lives. I am very familiar with her moral compass and know, without a doubt, that she could not have done what she is convicted of.

Audrey is a mother with her youngest under age 3. Her children need her. She is the link in her family that keeps them all afloat. Without her they will fall apart.

As a witness for Audrey's trial I know that the proof of my testimony was never entered as evidence. I assume that the same was true for the other witnesses. This was key evidence. Without it the jury was easily led to believe we were making it all up. With it I have little doubt they would have understood Audrey's innocence.

Much damage has already been done to my daughter and her small children with this accusation and now this false conviction. I ask that you keep that damage to the barest minimum while we flounder in this legal system and learn how we can get true justice for Audrey.

Respectfully yours,
Elaine Smith
