Dear Judge Henry Kantor,

I am writing to you today in regards to Audrey Cannon. I met Audrey about 8 years ago through a mutual friend and we immediately bonded over the loss of another mutual friend, whom she had memorialized in a beautiful drawing.

In the 8 years that I have known Audrey, I have hung out with her in public on several occasions and there was only one troubling pattern of behavior that became noticeable. Not on Audrey's part, but rather, how people treated her based on her appearance. You see, with Audrey's tattoos and style, people often made judgments about her before knowing anything of her character.

Your Honor, it is bad enough that snap judgments of people are made in a social context so regularly. To have it occur in a court of law, is truly disturbing and disheartening.

Audrey is many things, Your Honor, but she is not a thief. She is a mother, a wife, a friend, and an artist. I have spent many times speaking with her during personal strife, and never was anything illegal a suggestion or option for her and I do not believe, in my heart of hearts, that she is capable of what she is accused of. I believe the evidence presented to your court is circumstantial at best and certain leaves plenty of reasonable doubt in mind.

I admit, I am not a student of law, Your Honor, but I have seen injustices done in our court system and I hope not to see it again.

Thank you for your time,

Michelle H.
